File submission guidelines
Please use the information on this page when submitting files in order to achieve the best possible product. To avoid delays and additional charges, the guidelines on this page must be followed.
All press ready files must meet the following requirements, or you may
be charged for prepress/design work:
- Color mode: CMYK, CMYK + spot or Grayscale. Please ensure that your document contains only the colors that are written into your quote for your project.
RGB Mode: Please make sure that no images, graphics, or text is in RGB mode. RGB colors are only displayable on monitors and do not translate into matching colors when printed. For instance, an RGB blue may appear as pruple when printed.
- Bleed
If your project has images or graphics that are intended to run to the page edge, you must include extra area around the edges of your document. For sheet fed jobs, we require .125" of bleed on all four sides. For web jobs, we require .25" on all four sides.
Please see the figure below for a graphic representation of this concept presented with .125" bleed applied.
Supported file types
- Adobe Indesign CS3 - .indd file extension
- Adobe Illustrator CS3 - .ai or .eps file extension
- Adobe PDF - .pdf file extension
Be sure to embed all fonts (and subsets) when creating your pdf. This option can be found in Acrobat Distiller under the following menu: Settings>Edit Adobe PDF Settings>Fonts.
- Adobe Photoshop CS3 - .psd file extension
- QuarkXPress 7 - .qxd file extension
Please note that we do NOT recommend creating pdfs directly from Quark (regardless of version). Customers should print to a postscript file (.ps), and then process this file through Acrobat Distiller.
If your file type is not listed above, please assume that we will not be able to edit your native files. If you are working on a PC, we recommend that you download and install the free program "Primo pdf". This program will allow you to "print" a pdf file that we will be able to use with our system.
